He's Got the Music in Him

KARLOZ BIO

About Karloz Tee Taboada

Karloz is a musician, actor, photographer in San Antonio, Texas. He was also a DJ and known at KXTN-FM as Go-Cart Carlos.

He has worked in film with Kris Kristofferson, George Strait, Penelope Cruz, Matt Damon, and Billy Bob Thornton.

In music he has had the pleasure of working with two Grammy Award winning musician/producers – Ron Morales and Joe Reyes. They both have had a big influence on him and his music.

Although he likes acting, music gives him the most room to capture his skills and (sometimes odd) talents. That musical interest and talent seems to have been in him since he was a child. But he never understood his talent was inborn until he discovered his birth father was not the father who loved and raised him. Instead, this man was a well-known South Texas singer by the name of Rudy Tee Gonzales of Rudy Tee and the Reno Bops. Before Rudy Tee’s death in 2024, they had the opportunity to get to know one another and even record together. Check out the section here on the website announcing a coming Tribute Tour that Karloz and his half-brother Ronny Tee will be performing later in 2024 and beyond.

Karloz has been asked why he doesn’t use his musical talent and work at music full time like a lot of his musician friends around San Antonio. That's definitely one way to do it. He realized early on though that he’s just not the kind of guy who can swing it that way. He tried for a while, but it began to make him resent his musical talents a bit. He opted to get a full-time gig doing other work and do his music on the side, to keep it fun and exciting. It was Berry Gordy (Hitsville USA - Motown Records) who made him understand going in this direction in an interview. Berry did the same thing. When asked why, he replied "Music was my lifelong dream. Don't ever put a burden on your dream". Karloz is living his dream!

A favorite quote of Karloz – he does have quite a sense of humor.

"Never name-drop, no matter how many celebrities you know". Matt Damon told me that at a dinner for Tommy Lee Jones. I hitched a ride with Chris Marrou.
